Free Online Invert PDF Colors (Dark Mode PDF)

Make a PDF easy on the eyes at night. White pages turn dark and dark text turns light. Pick the pages, choose plain invert or invert with colours kept, and save the new file. Nothing is uploaded. Make a dark version of a PDF: white pages turn black and black text turns white. It is easier on the eyes at night, and each page is saved as a picture.

How to make a dark mode PDF

Drop your PDF in the box, choose the pages and the style, and press Invert colours. Then download the new file.

Honest limit: every page is drawn as a picture and then inverted, so the text in the new file cannot be selected or searched, and links are lost. Your original file is not changed.

Common mistakes

  • Printing the inverted file: it uses a lot of ink. Print the original instead.
  • Expecting to copy text from the new file: it is a picture. Use the original file.
  • Choosing a very high resolution for a big page: the file gets large and slow. Try 150 DPI.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The pages are drawn and turned dark inside your browser, and the new PDF is saved to your device.
What is the difference between the two choices?
"Invert" swaps every colour for its opposite: white paper becomes black, black text becomes white, and a red picture turns cyan. "Invert and keep colours" also turns the colours back round, so a red picture stays reddish and a blue sky stays bluish, while the paper still turns dark.
Can I still select or search the text?
No. Every page becomes a picture, so the text is part of the picture. Keep your original if you need the text. The new file also has no links or bookmarks.
Why is the file bigger than my original?
A page picture takes more room than text. Lower the resolution or the quality to make the file smaller; 150 DPI is a good balance for reading on a screen.
Can I still select the text in the dark PDF?
No. Each page becomes a picture, so the text can no longer be selected or searched. Keep the original for that, or run OCR PDF on the result.
