How to split a PDF

Drop your PDF in the box. Choose how to split it, type the pages if the mode needs them, and press Split. Download one file, or all parts together as a ZIP.

Examples

To keep pages 1 to 2 and 4, choose "Pages I choose" and type 1-2,4. To cut a 20-page file into parts of 5 pages, choose "Every N pages" and set N to 5.

Common mistakes

  • Asking for a page that is not there: the message tells you how many pages the PDF has.
  • Opening a PDF with a password: remove the password first, the tool cannot open it.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The file is opened and split in your browser and the parts are saved to your device.
What is the difference between the modes?
"Pages I choose" makes one new PDF with only those pages. "A file for each range" makes one PDF per range, so 1-2,4 gives two files. "Every N pages" cuts the document into equal parts, and "One page per file" gives you every page on its own.
How do I write page ranges?
Use numbers and dashes separated by commas: 1-3,5,8-10. 3- means page 3 to the end and -2 means the first two pages.
What if I get many files?
When the result has more than one file you get a ZIP with all of them, and each file also has its own Download button.
How do I use this split pdf tool?
Use the interactive controls above; processing stays in your browser and the result is intended as a practical starting point for development work.
