How to make an archive-style PDF
Drop your PDF in the box and press Make archive-style PDF. Pages with fonts that are not stored in the file become pictures; other pages stay as they are. Then download the new file.
What is and is not guaranteed
Not guaranteed: that a PDF/A validator will accept the file. Print (CMYK) colours, form fields, comments and some page effects are not changed. The output is labelled "PDF/A-style (not validated)" on purpose.
Common mistakes
- Sending the result where a certified PDF/A file is required: check it with an official validator first.
- Expecting selectable text on every page: pages with non-embedded fonts become pictures.
- A PDF with a password: remove the password first, the tool cannot open it.
