Free Online Repair PDF

Rescue a PDF that will not open or says it is damaged. The tool rebuilds the file and tells you how many pages it could save. Your file stays on your device. Try this when a PDF shows an error, opens blank or stops halfway. The tool rebuilds the file, keeps the pages it can read and tells you which ones it saved.

How to fix a corrupt PDF

Drop the damaged PDF in the box and press Repair PDF. You will see what was recovered. Not every file can be saved, for example a file that was cut off early.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting a file with no readable pages to come back: if nothing can be read, the tool says so.
  • Repairing a file that has a password: remove the password first.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The file is read and rebuilt in your browser and the new PDF is saved to your device.
What kind of damage can it fix?
Files that will not open because the index at the end is broken, the start of the file has extra bytes, or a few pages are damaged. Pages that can be read are kept; broken ones are named and left out.
What if the file cannot be read normally?
As a last step each page is drawn and rebuilt as a picture. You get your pages back but the text can no longer be selected. The result says when this happened.
Can it open a file with a password?
No. Remove the password first.
Can every broken PDF be fixed?
No. If the file is badly damaged or cut short, some pages may be lost. The tool tells you how many pages it saved, and it never changes your original file.
