Word to PDF

Turn a Word (.docx) file into a PDF in your browser. Keeps headings, text, lists, tables and pictures, not the exact Word layout. Free, no uploads.

Your files stay in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Honest limit: there is no Word layout engine here. Text, headings, lists, tables and pictures are kept; fonts, columns, headers, footers and text boxes are not.

Free Online Word to PDF

Make a PDF from a Word file. Text, headings, lists, tables and pictures are kept; the page is laid out again by your browser. Your file never leaves your device. Save a Word (.docx) file as a PDF with its text, headings, lists, tables and pictures. It does not use Word, so fine page layout may differ.

How to turn a Word file into a PDF

Drop your .docx file, choose to use the page size of the document or a standard one, and press Convert to PDF.

What to expect

The words, headings, bold and italic, lists, tables and PNG or JPG pictures come across. Fonts, columns, headers, footers and text boxes do not. Check the result before you send it. When you need an exact copy, use Save as PDF in Word itself.

Common mistakes

  • Opening an old .doc file or a file with a password: save it as a plain .docx in Word first.
  • Expecting fonts and layout to match Word exactly: this is an approximation made without Word.

Frequently asked questions

Is my Word file uploaded?
No. The .docx is read and the PDF is made inside your browser.
Will the PDF look exactly like in Word?
No. This tool has no Word layout engine. It keeps the text, headings, bold and italic, lists, tables, pictures and the page size, and lays them out again with standard fonts. Your fonts, columns, headers and footers, text boxes, floating pictures and exact spacing are not kept. For a perfect copy, use Save as PDF in Word.
Why is my .doc file refused?
Only the modern .docx format can be read. Open an old .doc file, or one with a password, in Word and save it as .docx first.
Why do some letters show as "?"
The PDF uses the standard fonts, which cover English and most European languages. Other scripts are replaced with a question mark and the tool tells you how many.
Will the PDF look exactly like in Word?
Close, but not always identical. The content and order are kept, while exact fonts, spacing and complex page designs may differ because Word itself is not used.
