How to edit a PDF

Drop your PDF in the box. Pick a tool, click or drag on the page, and use Select to move, resize or delete things. When you are happy, press Save changes.

Honest limits: you add things on top of the page; words that are already in the PDF cannot be edited in place (cover them with white-out and type new ones). Added text uses the standard Latin fonts.

Common mistakes

  • Using white-out to hide private information: it only covers it. Use Redact PDF.
  • Expecting to retype existing words: cover them first, then add new text.
  • Typing Hindi, Chinese or Arabic: the standard fonts cannot draw them (they would show as ?).

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The page is drawn and edited in your browser, and the changes are written into a copy of your file on your device.
Can I change the text that is already in the PDF?
Not directly. A PDF is like a printed page, not a word-processor file. To fix existing words, cover them with "White-out" and type the new words on top. To really remove words, use Redact PDF.
Which fonts can I use?
Sans (Helvetica), Serif (Times) and Typewriter (Courier), each with bold and italic. They cover Latin letters (English, French, German, Spanish and similar). Other scripts such as Hindi, Chinese or Arabic cannot be added yet.
Can I undo a mistake?
Yes. Use Undo and Redo, or press Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y. Nothing is saved to your file until you press Save changes.
Does white-out remove what is under it?
No. It paints white over it, so the words look gone but can still be found in the file. Use Redact PDF when something must really disappear.
Can I change the words already in the PDF?
Not in place. You can cover them with white-out and type new words on top. To hide private words for good, use Redact PDF.
