DNS Lookup

Look up the DNS records of a domain (A, AAAA, MX, TXT, CNAME, NS, SOA, CAA) with SPF and DMARC explained in plain words. Uses DNS-over-HTTPS.

This tool sends the domain name you enter to Cloudflare's DNS resolver (and to Google's if Cloudflare cannot be reached). Nothing else is sent.

Done here? Use the Send to… menu on the result to carry it on to Email Address Validator.

Free Online DNS Lookup

Type a domain to see where it points, which servers take its mail and what its SPF and DMARC records say. It gives developers a quick browser-based way to solve a focused dns lookup task before moving the result into a project.

How to use DNS Lookup

Enter a domain such as example.com, choose a record type or All, then press Look up.

Common mistakes

  • Entering a full URL: only the domain is used, so the path is dropped.
  • Expecting a change to show at once: wait for the TTL of the old record to pass.

Frequently asked questions

Does this send my domain anywhere?
Yes. DNS needs a server to answer, so the domain you enter is sent to Cloudflare's public DNS-over-HTTPS service, or to Google's if Cloudflare is not reachable. No other data is sent.
What are SPF and DMARC?
SPF lists the servers allowed to send mail for a domain. DMARC tells receivers what to do with mail that fails SPF or DKIM, and where to send reports.
Why do results differ from my computer?
Resolvers cache records for their TTL. A recent change may take a while to show up everywhere.
Why a limit of one lookup per second?
It keeps the shared public resolvers from being flooded.
How do I use this dns lookup tool?
Use the interactive controls above; processing stays in your browser and the result is intended as a practical starting point for development work.
