Free Online Kubernetes YAML Validator

Paste one or more Kubernetes manifests and choose the version of the cluster. You are told about mistakes that make kubectl apply fail, and about APIs that were removed in your version. It gives developers a quick browser-based way to solve a focused kubernetes yaml validator task before moving the result into a project.

How to use the kubernetes yaml validator

Paste your file in the box, or open it, and press Check. Choose the Kubernetes version you deploy to. Each finding names the object (kind and name) and the field to change.

Common mistakes

  • Labels in the pod template that do not match the selector: the Deployment would never find its pods.
  • Using :latest images: a restart can pull a different version than before.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a full schema validation?
It checks the most common mistakes: required fields, names, selectors matching labels, ports, images and API versions. It is not a replacement for kubectl apply --dry-run or kubeconform, but it catches the problems that appear most often, instantly and in your browser.
Why are some API versions an error?
Kubernetes removes old API versions. For example extensions/v1beta1 Ingress was removed in 1.22, so a manifest that used it stops working on newer clusters. Choose your cluster version to see what applies.
What about custom resources?
Kinds that are not built into Kubernetes (from an operator or CRD) are listed as custom and only the common fields are checked.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The checks run in your browser and nothing you paste is sent to a server.
How do I use this kubernetes yaml validator tool?
Use the interactive controls above; processing stays in your browser and the result is intended as a practical starting point for development work.
