Free Online Loan and Mortgage Calculator

Find out what a loan or mortgage may cost each month and in total. Type the amount, the yearly interest rate and the term, and get an estimate with a month-by-month table you can download. Estimate the monthly payment, the total interest and the payoff date of a loan or mortgage. A full payment table shows how much of each payment is interest and how much pays the loan down.

How to estimate a loan payment

Type the loan amount, the yearly interest rate in percent and how long you will take to repay it, in years or months. The monthly payment, the interest and the payoff appear straight away.

Extra payment and dates

Open "More options" to add an extra amount each month, the date of the first payment (to see the payoff date and a dated table) and a currency label such as $ or EUR. The label is only text: no currency is assumed.

The payment table

The table lists every payment with the part that repays the loan, the part that is interest and what is still owed. "Download CSV" opens in any spreadsheet.

Common mistakes

  • Typing the monthly rate instead of the yearly rate: enter the yearly figure, such as 6, not 0.5.
  • Forgetting that taxes, insurance and fees are not in this estimate.

Frequently asked questions

How is the monthly payment worked out?
It uses the standard loan formula: payment = amount x r / (1 - (1 + r) to the power of minus n), where r is the yearly rate divided by 12 and n is the number of months. With a 0% rate the amount is simply split evenly.
Why might my lender show a different number?
This is an estimate. Lenders can round each month differently, charge fees or insurance, or count days instead of whole months. Use the figures to compare options, then check the official quote.
What does the extra monthly payment do?
Anything extra goes straight to what you owe, so the balance falls faster and the loan ends sooner. The page shows how many months and how much interest the extra payment saves compared with paying only the regular amount.
Can I use it for a mortgage?
Yes. Enter the home loan amount, the yearly rate and the term in years. It covers the principal and interest part of a mortgage payment only: taxes, insurance and fees are not included.
Is this the exact amount the bank will charge?
It is an estimate from the standard loan formula. A bank may add fees, insurance or round differently, so check the offer you are given.
