Common mistakes

  • An SVG with no width, height or viewBox: its size is unknown. Add a viewBox such as viewBox="0 0 24 24".
  • A transparent PNG on a dark page looks different from a preview on white: set a background colour if you need one.

Why convert SVG to PNG?
Some places do not accept SVG: social media, email, many upload forms and presentation tools. PNG works everywhere.
Which scale should I choose?
1x gives the size written in the SVG. 2x and 3x make sharper images for high-resolution screens. For print, use a larger scale or set an exact width.
Is the background transparent?
Yes by default: anything the SVG does not paint stays transparent. Turn off "Transparent background" to fill it with a colour.
Are fonts and external images shown?
Browsers do not load external files into an SVG drawn this way, so use embedded images and text converted to outlines for an exact result.
