Frequently asked questions

What is Punycode?
A way to write any Unicode text with only letters, digits and hyphens. A domain label written this way starts with xn--.
What is a homograph attack?
Letters from other alphabets can look identical to Latin letters (the Cyrillic "а" and the Latin "a"). A look-alike domain can fool visitors. The tool warns when one label mixes scripts.
What about the part before @ in an email?
Only the domain is converted. A non-ASCII name before the @ needs SMTPUTF8 support on the mail servers.
Is my code uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing you paste is sent to a server.
How do I use this punycode converter tool?
Use the interactive controls above; processing stays in your browser and the result is intended as a practical starting point for development work.
