Free Online MessagePack Visualizer

Paste MessagePack bytes and see the JSON they hold, and exactly which bytes make up each value. It gives developers a quick browser-based way to solve a focused messagepack visualizer task before moving the result into a project.

How to use MessagePack Visualizer

Paste hex or Base64, or open a file, then press Decode. Turn on "Several values" if the data holds more than one.

Common mistakes

  • Pasting JSON or text into the decode box: it expects hex or Base64 bytes.
  • Expecting big 64-bit numbers as numbers: values above 2^53 are shown as text so no digits are lost.

Frequently asked questions

What is MessagePack?
A compact binary format that looks like JSON: maps, arrays, strings, numbers, booleans and null, but smaller and faster to read.
How are timestamps shown?
The standard timestamp extension (type −1) is shown as an ISO date. Other extension types appear as an object with the type number and the data in hex.
What is "extra bytes after the first value"?
The data holds more than one MessagePack value. Turn on "Several values in a row" to decode all of them.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Compression runs in your browser and nothing you paste or open is sent to a server.
How do I use this messagepack visualizer tool?
Use the interactive controls above; processing stays in your browser and the result is intended as a practical starting point for development work.
