Free Online Image Compressor – Reduce Image Size to KB

Make photos smaller for email, forms and websites. Set a quality, or type the size you need in KB and the tool finds the best quality that fits. It gives developers a quick browser-based way to solve a focused image compressor task before moving the result into a project.

How to compress an image

Drop your images. They are compressed at once with the quality shown. To reach a size limit, type it in Target size (KB) and press Compress again.

Forms with a size limit

Many online forms accept photos under 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB. Set the target to that number and download the result.

Common mistakes

  • Compressing again and again: each round loses detail. Always start from the original file.
  • Asking for a very small target on a large picture: the picture is also made smaller, which can look soft.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get an image under 50 KB?
Type 50 in "Target size (KB)". The tool lowers the quality step by step and, if needed, the picture size, until the file fits. This is handy for government and exam forms that set a limit.
What is the difference between quality and target size?
Quality is a number you choose and the file size follows from it. Target size is a file size you need and the quality follows from that. When a target is set, it is used.
Why did my PNG become a JPG?
PNG files cannot be made smaller by lowering quality. When a target size is set, the image is saved as JPEG (or WebP if you choose it). Transparent areas become white in JPEG.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything is done by your browser and stays on your device.
How do I use this image compressor tool?
Use the interactive controls above; processing stays in your browser and the result is intended as a practical starting point for development work.
