Free Online Brotli Sandbox
Try Brotli on your own text. Compare every quality level from 0 to 11, and see how it stacks up against gzip. It gives developers a quick browser-based way to solve a focused brotli sandbox task before moving the result into a project.
How to use Brotli Sandbox
Choose Compress, Decompress or Compare. Compare runs all quality levels and shows the sizes and times in a table.
Common mistakes
- Using quality 11 for data you compress on every request: use a lower level for live compression.
- Trying to decompress gzip or zlib data: it is a different format.
Frequently asked questions
When is Brotli better than gzip?
For text such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript, Brotli at high quality is usually 15 to 25 percent smaller. It is slower to compress, so servers often compress once and keep the file.
What does quality mean?
0 is fastest and 11 is smallest and slowest. The Compare table shows the trade-off on your own data.
Why is there a 5 MB limit?
Brotli at high quality is slow in the browser. Larger input could freeze the page.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Compression runs in your browser and nothing you paste or open is sent to a server.
How do I use this brotli sandbox tool?
Use the interactive controls above; processing stays in your browser and the result is intended as a practical starting point for development work.
